Hi! My name is Vanntey Heng, the founder of SoapyGem. I am an only child born and raised in Siem Reap, Cambodia, I immigrated to America when I was 12 years old. My mother took the opportunity to come to the US to work and support our family in Cambodia, while it was difficult being away from my mother at such a young age I was surrounded by such strong women in my life, which is my grandmother and aunt who helped raise me in Cambodia. Throughout my childhood journey I was able to learn the importance of my culture and language and most importantly I found my passion in creativity and fashion. My mother believed in my potential and wanted to bring me to America to have more opportunities and a better future. 

When I first came to America I barely knew how to speak English and my way of expressing myself was through art. I’ve always loved to DIY anything I could and found passion in jewelry and accessories and that is why I decided to launch my first ever brand SoapyGem where I hand make special statement pieces from my heart.
